Inside The Green Door Café

Six months have passed since The Green Door Café (573 Nawala Road, Rajagiriya, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte) opened in the Nawala district of Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, the capital of Sri Lanka.

Sudantha Soysa, a former Sri Lankan national tennis player and a professional tennis coach, runs the business with his wife Theekshana, who works in interior design. The green door at the entrance is eye-catching. Featuring pottery plates and historical photos of Colombo covering the walls, the interior of the café has stylish décor with charcoal gray and brown as the base colors.

The food menu includes Mac & Cheese, Lasagna, Carbonara, Roast Chicken, Hamburgers, Tuna Steak, and other items. Asian dishes are also available, including Indonesian Chicken Satay, Indonesian Rendang Beef, and Singaporean Crab Fried Rice.

Drinks include mocktails with fruits and herbs, cappuccino, cafe latte, espresso, hot chocolate, tea, and flavored tea. For coffee, it used dark roast blends roasted by artisans.

Desserts are also available, and the lineup includes Frangipan Tart with Berries or Ginger and Pear, Apple Crumble, Double Chocolate Brownie, Pannacotta, and Eclair with Chocolate Mousse. It offers takeout and will soon begin delivery by Uber Eats.

Opening hours: Noon to 10:00 p.m.
