Arabic Shawarma (115, Meeraniya Street, Colombo 12), specializing in Lebanese-style chicken shawarma, opened in Aluthkade, Colombo 12, on October 21.
Shawarma is a Middle Eastern dish made from marinated meat, such as lamb, beef, and chicken, stacked in a cone-like shape, and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie or spit. The meat is then scraped off with a knife and wrapped in flatbread with vegetables. It is similar to the kebab, a well-known Turkish dish, and is a popular Middle Eastern fast food.

In addition to shawarma, the menu also features chicken-based dishes such as the classic Sri Lankan Chicken Kottu (from Rs. 850), Nasi Rice (Rs. 999), Dubai Chicken Rice (from Rs. 850), Habibi’s Chicken Sandwich (Rs. 699), Chicken Mini Submarine (From Rs. 399).
