Inside Curry by Lotus

A month has passed since Curry by Lotus, a restaurant specializing in Sri Lankan cuisine, opened on the third floor of Colombo City Center (CCC) Mall (137 Sir James Pieris Mawatha, Colombo 0200).

Three investors in the restaurant business got together to open the restaurant on December 11. They say that they decided to open the restaurant to provide “100% authentic Sri Lankan cuisine” since there was a great demand for it at the CCC. The restaurant, which uses the entire top floor of the food court, has an open design and can accommodate approximately 100 people. The farm tools displayed at the entrance and the red and straw-colored circles arranged around the name of the restaurant on the white accent wall are eye-catching. The restaurant also has a kids’ area where children can play so that families can enjoy their meals together.

The menu includes Rice and Curry, the national dish of Sri Lanka; Hot Hoppers, thin, bowl-shaped pancakes made from rice flour and coconut milk; Spicy Chickpeas; Fried Hendella; and Pani Appa, a pastry filled with sweet fillings such as jaggery syrup. The menu features dishes familiar to Sri Lankans and is prepared with ingredients purchased daily.

In addition to dine-in, the restaurant offers takeout for lunch and family dinners. They plan to open two branches in Colombo next year.

Opening hours: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
