Vegetarian Indian restaurant Sri Suryas Hotel opens in Bambalapitiya, Colombo

Two months have passed since Sri Suryas Hotel (88, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya, Colombo 04), a vegetarian Indian restaurant, opened in Bambalapitiya, Colombo.

The restaurant, opened on February 23, is the second branch of Sri Suryas, which has its main restaurant in Colombo 11. It serves a wide variety of North and South Indian cuisine without using any meat or fish. The main restaurant has won the Best Vegetarian Restaurant award for food and hygiene for a few consecutive years and has been featured in news programs in Sri Lanka.

Its brown and beige interior has a simple modern design with black as an accent color. The display case near the entrance is lined with colorful Indian sweets and other delights.

All dishes, such as appetizers, salads, soups, tandoori dishes, and desserts, are vegetarian, and the restaurant offers approximately 100 varieties. The menu includes Idly, a steamed rice cake; Vadai, a savory deep-fried fritter; Sambar, a lentil-based vegetable stew; Curd Rice with yogurt; Paneer Butter Masala; and Biryani, priced from 300 to 1,550 rupees. In addition to Indian dishes, it serves several Chinese dishes, such as Szechuan fried rice and fried noodles. Desserts include a traditional South Indian milk sweet Palkova, caramel pudding, and ice cream.

Opening hours: 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. In addition to dine-in, the restaurant offers takeout and delivery and accepts orders through Uber Eats and PickMe Food.
