Wood-engraved notices available in Colombo – Also name tags and table numbers
Wooden notices for hotel rooms
Green Pages Holdings, a company offering signs and menu folders made of natural materials in Battaramulla, a suburb of Colombo, is currently showcasing wooden notices that they created for a local hotel on social media.
Cholitha Daswatte, the president of the company, started visiting hotels around the southern part of Sri Lanka in 2001, and “noticed that many hotels were using plastic items only.” Based on this experience, Daswatte started promoting eco-friendly products.
Green Pages Holdings initially created binders made of recycled materials, but then came up with the idea of using wood for their products, which would last longer and could be engraved with the logos of hotels or restaurants to help promote their brands. Currently, the company produces key tags, name tags for staff, notices for guest rooms, door hangers with a message such as “Please Clean My Room”, and table numbers for restaurants. These items are all made of wood and laser engraved. “With the growing awareness of eco-tourism and consideration for the environment, many hotel guests are happy to see our products,” said Daswatte.
The items currently being showcased on social media were made for the hotel, The Jungalows, in Dickwella, and they were made of discarded teak wood, engraved with letters and logos, and finished with a matte varnish.
Prices vary depending on size. Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (until 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays). Closed on Sundays.
