Japanese Restaurant Nozomi opens in suburb of Colombo, offering sushi rolls, sashimi, and tonkatsu

It has been three and a half months since the opening of the Japanese restaurant Nozomi in Battaramulla, a suburb of Colombo.
The restaurant opened on January 15. “Our owner loves Japanese culture and people, so he decided to open this restaurant,” said Thushara, the manager of Nozomi. In February, Kumar Sangakkara, a Sri Lankan celebrity and a former cricketer, visited the restaurant.
The menu includes Crispy Maki (6 pcs/Rs. 785); Nigiri Maguro (2 pcs/Rs. 600); California Temaki (Rs. 1,380); Sashimi Moriyawase with five kinds of fish (tuna, salmon, crab sticks, white fish, mackerel, etc./Rs. 3,405); Salmon, Crab and Avocado Salad (Rs. 1,105); Nozomi Sushi and Sashimi Bento (Rs. 2,440); Seafood Yakisoba (Rs. 1,105); and Tonkatsu (Rs. 1,380).
The restaurant has a total of 14 tables, including indoor and outdoor seating areas separated by a glass divider. Three large white lanterns are displayed at the entrance. “We always welcome our customers by playing pleasant Japanese music and preparing delicious food. We hope you come and experience the beauty of Japan with us,” Thushara added.
Opening hours: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Closed on Mondays.
