Miris by Islandmom, an online shop for Naimiris Condiments, based in Colombo 15, started offering a delivery service throughout Sri Lanka on August 19.

Shivani A. Tyronne, the owner, opened the store on June 1 last year. Her friend, who liked the chili sauce she made, spread the word, and she began to receive orders from people around her. This led her to commercialize it as her own brand. Her husband Tyronne and his friend designed the label for the bottle.

“Miris” is the Sinhala word for “chili.” She makes homemade sauces and jams, specifically using Nai Miris, a variety of chili pepper similar to habanero. In addition to the most popular Chilli Jam (Rs.780), she also sells hot sauces with added ingredients such as tomato, garlic, and coriander, and the lineup includes Level Hot, Level Extreme, and Level Dynamite (Rs.530 to Rs.550).

The islandwide delivery is handled by Connect co, a venture transport company that launched last year in response to the rapid increase in demand for home deliveries due to the pandemic. The shipping cost is 350 rupees (excluding Colombo and its suburbs).

“I don’t use any additives or preservatives. You can add some spiciness to various dishes, from sandwiches and pizzas to rice and noodles. Please give it a try,” she added.

Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Orders can be placed via Instagram (@naimiris_addict).
