It has been six months since the opening of Pulse + Beet, a delivery restaurant offering healthy cuisine in the Colombo suburb of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia.

Pulse + Beet opened on March 15. It is a cloud-kitchen type restaurant that operates through delivery applications. “I’ve always wanted to start a delivery business, so I decided to open a cloud kitchen,” said Rukman Sivaloganathan, the owner. “I chose to offer healthy cuisine because many people nowadays are accustomed to eating nutritious food.”

The menu includes Spicy Chicken Wraps (Rs.799), Seafood Chowder (Rs.899), and Asian Poached Chicken Salad with Thai Dressing (Rs.899). Teriyaki Chicken Bowl with shiitake mushrooms and bok choy (Rs.1,299); Roasted Pumpkin Hummus Bowl (Rs.999); and Furikake Salmon Bowl (Rs.1,799) are the popular items. Drinks with local fruits added to king coconut water are also available, such as Green Apple Chiller and Passion Chiller (200ml: Rs.299 each).

Rukman added: “We try our best to be as sustainable as we can, which is why we use kraft boxes and glass bottles. Next year, we plan to start a new delivery service that will feature only healthy foods.”

Opening hours: 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (currently 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. due to curfew). Orders can be placed through Uber Eats, PickMe Food, and EatMe, as well as WhatsApp.
