Dumpling House, an online store offering Thai and Chinese dumplings in Kottawa, a suburb of Colombo, celebrated its first anniversary in October.

The store opened in Ratnapura, Sabaragamuwa on October 12 last year. The sisters-in-law duo, Marie Ann Correa and Bawani Karunaratne, run the store. “We are a couple of home cooks that love dumplings. We started making them for our family and friends, and finally, we decided to open one in Colombo as well,” said Correa. Currently, it delivers orders from two locations, Ratnapura and Kottawa.

Dumplings are the most popular items on the menu and are available steamed or fried. The lineup includes Chicken (Rs.650 for 12 pieces), Prawns (Rs.850 for 12), and Prawns and Chicken Mix (Rs.750 for 12). Customers can choose from Thai Spicy Chili or Chili Garlic sauce. Spring rolls are available in vegetable, chicken, and prawn in packs of 6 (from Rs.450) and 12 (from Rs.750). In August, it added various fried rice and noodle dishes such as Thai Basil Chicken (Rs.650), Prawn Pad Thai (Rs.950), Thai Chicken Fried Rice (Rs.450), and Glass Noodle Seafood Salad (Rs.1,100).

Orders can be placed via Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Correa said, “We try to capture the true flavor of all the food we have tried. We chose Asian cuisine as it is what we cook best, and we don’t sell anything that doesn’t pass our taste buds. We hope to open a restaurant in the future and expand our business. We want to make Dumpling house one of the best in Sri Lanka,” she added.

Opening hours: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
