Four months have passed since Nara Thai, a Thai restaurant in Colombo 03, relocated to a new location in Kollupitiya in the same district.

The restaurant is headquartered in Thailand and has several branches across Asia. In Sri Lanka, it opened its Colombo branch in 2016 in partnership with Everbright Holdings, a company that operates electrical appliances and restaurant businesses. Under the concept of “providing a truly authentic Thai experience,” it serves “Thai dishes with a modern style, combining the highest quality of ingredients with traditional recipes.”

The new restaurant, which opened on August 1, has an area of 4,500 square feet and can accommodate 119 people. The name “Nara” comes from the Sanskrit word for “Thai woman” and the name of one of the founders, Narawadee Srikarnchana.

Signature dishes include Tom Yum (from Rs.1,090) with a choice of five ingredients including shrimp and chicken; Phu Phad Pong Karee (Rs.5,990), yellow curry with a whole crab; Pad Thai (from Rs.1,090), a popular noodle dish; Khao Phad Nara (Rs.890), fried rice with prawns and chicken; and Khao Phad Samunprai (Rs.890), blue butterfly pea rice with Thai herbs. For dessert, the lineup includes Mango Sticky Rice and brownies, priced from 590 rupees to 890 rupees.

In Thailand, Nara Thai has been selected as one of the best restaurants in Thailand since 2007. Imran Abusalih, the assistant manager, said, “You’ll taste the best of Thai upscale home cooking while enjoying your meal in a sleek, contemporary restaurant.” In addition to dining in, the restaurant accepts orders through PickMe and Uber Eats.

Opening hours: noon – 11:00 p.m.
