CINEC Campus to train elevator technicians, aiming to alleviate skilled labor shortage
New elevator training center
In May, the Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC) introduced an elevator technician training course with an elevator training center at its CINEC Campus (Millennium Drive, IT Park, Malabe) in Malabe, a suburb of Colombo.
The course covers all aspects of the business, including elevator installation, repair and service operations, repairing technical faults, and ordering accessories and spare parts. To make the curriculum more practical, a new elevator training center, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, with an elevator training tower, has been installed on the campus. CINEC is conducting the practical training of this course in collaboration with Aitken Spence, a reputed elevator operating company in the country.
It is reported that elevator installation and maintenance technicians are in high demand domestically and internationally. CINEC hopes that by training qualified elevator erectors and service technicians, it will play an important role in filling the skilled labor shortage in the market.
CINEC Campus was established in 1990. As a private institute of higher education, it offers programs in a wide range of fields, including Maritime Science, Marine Engineering & Marine Electrical Engineering, Engineering & Technology, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Tourism & Hospitality, and Law, to name a few. It also undertakes special projects in vocational training around the country catering to government, private, and foreign organizations.
