Japanese restaurant ICHI ZEN in Colombo 7 offers over 150 items

Four months have passed since the Japanese restaurant ICHI ZEN (63/2, Ward Place 07000 Colombo, tel +94 112 664 999) opened in Colombo 7.
In addition to traditional Japanese cuisine, the restaurant offers Japanese-style fusion dishes. Chandana Silva, the CEO and the owner of restaurants in Japan and Sri Lanka, opened the restaurant in January this year. Executive Chef Manjula Kurunduwatta, known as the “Sushi Master,” has a passion for Japanese cuisine and over 20 years of experience.
The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and a private room that can accommodate 4 to 16 people. The white-based interior walls of the restaurant are decorated with suiboku-ga, or ink wash painting, style designs.
Over 150 items are available on the menu. In addition to a la carte dishes such as dumplings, tempura, yakitori, and karaage fried chicken (from 645 rupees), the restaurant offers a wide variety of sushi rolls and nigirizushi (from 715 rupees), including Mango Dragon Maki with mango and crab stick and Fried Prawn Maki. Set Menu items (from 2,575 rupees) include Sukiyaki Set, Teriyaki Bento, Wafu Beef Steak Set, and Vegetarian Set, among others. Rice bowls (from 1,868 rupees) such as Katsu Don, Ten Don, Yakiniku Don, Unajyu, Chili Crab Meat & Prawns Don and noodle dishes such as Ramen and Udon are also offered.
The drink menu includes green tea, fresh juice, smoothies, shakes, and mocktails, to name a few.
